For starters, I had took off work on Weds because I had to take care of some baby making appts. I felt the timing of everything was off, tried to call the Dr. first thing to reschedule for next month and couldn't get anyone on the phone until it was too late. Long story short, I'm convinced we aren't pregnant again this month and pretty positive I just pissed away $1,000 against my will. I spent the rest of the morning/early afternoon in tears because I was so mad and upset. Went from there to meet Jeff for lunch, which made me feel a little better...venting always does haha. Then I spent the next 2 hours sleeping in the car in the parking lot of his work because we had to leave at 3 to catch a plane and it was pointless to drive back home.
Getting the the airport was fine...getting to the park-n-ride was fine...checking in and boarding the plane was fine. The plane ride itself...not so much. We hit a little turbulence on the way up, no big deal. United actually has these little snack boxes you can buy which was great because we were starving at that point. I paid the $7.99 for my box, ate my snacks and then wasted the $7.99 I spent on my box. The turbulence when we were landing was horrible! I felt like I was on a roller coaster the way we kept dipping down really quick and then back up again. Needless to say, I was THAT person who needed the throw up bag they keep in the back of the seat in front of you. I felt better after, but then as soon as I got in Dad's truck I felt nauseous all over again and felt that way for most of the 2 hour ride to his house. Jeff wanted to stop and get something to drink and while he was in the store, the urge was too much. I didn't even make it inside to the bathroom, I made it as far as the back of dad's truck. Then, felt perfectly fine...I couldn't have done that 2 hours ago?!?!
Ha! I wish this were true. Looked more like a hot mess...
The rest of the trip was ok. We stayed bundled up on Thurs because the high was 12 and wind chill factor was -19...ain't nobody got time for dat! Jeff and I made a run to Walmart because it was dad's birthday and I wanted to make him a basket of all the goodies he likes to eat...jerky, summer sausage, cheese, crackers, garlic stuffed olives, black olives, chicken biskit with Easy Cheese (canned cheesy yumminess!), nuts, etc. Then I made him a lemon cake which is his favorite. Friday we visited with Grandma and went out to eat that night with her and our family friend, Paul. Saturday we attempted to go ice fishing...it was a bust. We all caught at least one fish, but nothing worth keeping and the wind was starting to get to us after a couple of hours. The scenery was beautiful though!

Ice was a lot thicker than the 1st time we brought Jeff...18" vs. 3" |
Sunday we heard from Jeff's mom and she let us know that the water heater busted at the house and our area downstairs had flooded. Apparently they caught it before it made it to our living room, but it got both bedrooms, the kitchen and the bathroom. They ended up calling a company in who ripped up the carpet in the bedrooms, the baseboards throughout the house and put in blowers to dry it out. So we thought everything would still pretty much be in place, just minus the carpeting...yeah, not so much. This is what we walked in the door to:
What was my living room...
As soon as you walk in our door
View from spare room looking at door...
My bedroom...all my furniture was moved around and put on blocks, then all the stuff from the floor/under the bed was put on my bed
Bathroom - No, we do not keep a Hope Chest in our bathroom. it was in my bedroom
Our Kitchen
After inspecting everything, we need to replace all of the bottom cabinets in the kitchen because water soaked up into them about 3" from the bottom. The carpet in the bedrooms need to be replaced as well as the baseboards throughout the house. It ruined the bottom part of a hutch cabinet we were using as storage, but not a huge deal, and we have to cut the bottom shelf off the shelving rack Jeff built for the kitchen. The only thing I was worried about was my great-great grandmother's hope chest and china cabinet, but both are fine and that's all that matters! We currently have 2-3 blowers in every room to dry things out, there are a couple of machines set up to suck the moisture out of the air and they are draining water into the sinks, then everything but our big furniture is sitting in the living room floor. I am most upset about the fact that we made sure the house was spotless so we could come back from our vacation to a clean house and relax...God has a wicked sense of humor! I have a slight panic attack every time I walk thru down here now. My OCD kicks in and I want to put everything back up where it belongs and clean (the floors are FILTHY), but I can't until the repairs are made. Until that time, we are staying in my in-laws spare bedroom because it's 83 degrees in there from the blowers, there are wires and crap everywhere, and my furniture is all still on blocks. I am beyond thankful that we have a place to stay and grateful for all of their help!
